What do we do with Jesus Christ?

What do we do with Jesus Christ? This question has, in a sense, a ridiculously naive side. It will really sound serious: "What will He do with us?" Imagine a fly sitting on an elephant and thinking about what it can do with it. Probably, the people who ask this question really mean something completely different: How to solve the historical problem posed by the words and deeds of this Man? ". This problem should reconcile two important and phenomenal circumstances: On the one hand, by almost everyone the recognized depth and clarity of the moral teaching of Christ, which cannot be seriously refuted even by open opponents of Christianity. Arguing with the most ardent atheists, I discovered that they agree with the “moral” part of Christianity. In fact, of that Man and His closest followers, the true morality is stated in the clearest and best way: it is not just lazy idealism, it is filled with wisdom and firmness. This teaching is realistic in its totality, fresh in the highest sense, and without doubt, a product of a sober mind.
This is one side of this Man’s phenomenon. His other side is His obviously defiant theological statements. You understand that I mean not only certain statements in crisis situations, especially the answer to the question of the high priest that led to the execution of this Man. (Matthew 26: 63-64) "Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him: I adjure thee with the living God, tell us, are you the Christ, the Son of God? Jesus said to him: you said, even I say to you: henceforth see the Son of Man, sitting at the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. " His claims did not arise at all just before death at the most dramatic moment of His life. If you look closely at all that He said, such claims were heard quite often. He forgave people sins, for example. Probably, it is only natural that we forgive someone who hurt us.
If someone steals 10 rubles from you, you can probably say: "I forgive him, let's forget about it." And what do you say if someone stole 100 rubles from you, and I said: “Nothing, I forgive him”? Or a phrase, as if accidentally slipping from His mouth, when He looked at Jerusalem: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to you! I say unto you, from now on, you shall not see me until you exclaim: Blessed is he that come in the name of the Lord! " (Heb. From Matthew 23: 37-39). No one dares to comment on these statements. Another interesting statement about fasting, which is almost an obligatory part of any religion: “Then the disciples of John come to Him and say: Why do we and the Pharisees fast a lot, but Your disciples do not fast? And Jesus said to them: Can the sons of the marriage grieve while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. " (Heb. From Matthew 15: 14-15).
Who is this person declaring that His presence cancels all normal rules? It seems that He is completely innocent and sinless. Calling people sinners, He does not mean at all about Himself. And again He says: “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:58).In Hebrew, "I am" is the name of God, which should not have been pronounced aloud by any person under the fear of death. So, on the one hand, a clear and concrete doctrine of morality and ethics. On the other hand, claims resembling a maniac obsessed with such greatness, in comparison with which the claims of Napoleon or Alexander of Macedon seem to be children's games. If someone came to the Buddha and asked: "Are you the son of Brahma?", He would answer "You are crazy." Or, try to convince Socrates that he is Zeus. In response, you would hear laughter. If you ask Mohamed whether he is Allah, you would probably see how he was tearing his clothes to shreds and then losing their heads. Ask Confucius if he is a nature mother and he will shrug his shoulders with a smirk. In my opinion, when such an excellent teacher of morality says what Jesus Christ said, this is either a lunatic fit that has everything mixed up in his head, or He is actually God.
We can conclude this article by saying that no one treated Christ during His earthly life as simply a good and moral person. He did not make such an impression on the people around him at all.Anyone who met Him experienced either Horror or Hatred or Delight. There was no indifferent.
